Merit Scholars Alumni

Wayne State University created the Merit Scholars program in 1972, and it provided full tuition to more than 4,500 students who demonstrated strong academic achievement. This legacy of support continues today as the Presidential Scholars program in the Irvin D. Reid Honors College.

Like the Merit Scholars before them, Wayne State's Presidential Scholars continue to excel in their fields and communities.

Wayne State created the Merit Scholars Alumni Annual Scholarship to honor the Merit Scholars program's tradition of excellence. This scholarship helps draw high-achieving students to the challenging, innovative and interdisciplinary program in the Honors College.
