David Mackenzie Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship recognizes the Mackenzie Honor Society and its namesake, David Mackenzie, who organized the first public junior college curriculum in Michigan in 1913. The program was expanded and renamed the Detroit Junior College in 1917. Mackenzie was its first dean. That college eventually went on to become the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Wayne State University. This scholarship is awarded regularly to outstanding students enrolled in the Honors College.
