Office of Undergraduate Research Offers Grants up to $3,050; Applications Due Nov. 21

The Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR) is pleased to offer two types of grants for undergraduate students, each worth up to $3,050 total. Applications for the grants are due Wednesday, Nov. 21.

OUR is accepting applications for both the Undergraduate Research and Creative Projects Grant, and the Sustainability Grant offered in connection with the university\'s Contemporary Issues in Society (FOCIS) initiative.

About the Grants

The Undergraduate Research and Creative Projects Grant enhances opportunities for students to participate in research and creative activities under the guidance of faculty. Students can submit proposals for projects sponsored by faculty with whom they will collaborate. Research projects focus on developing and testing a hypothesis or theory using methods relevant to one or more academic disciplines. Creative projects develop new materials -- artistic, literary, educational or physical -- by methods other than those traditionally considered "research."

The Sustainability Grant is offered in connection with the university's Contemporary Issues in Society (FOCIS) initiative, which we inaugurated this year. FOCIS will bring Wayne State University's problem-solving resources to bear on issues that define both who we are and what we hope to become. Students who wish to complete projects related to sustainability are encouraged to apply for this grant.
