Members of the Honors College may pursue University Honors, Departmental Honors, or both.

The University Honors track is an interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary co-major that requires students to complete 28 Honors credits (beginning in the Spring/Summer 2019 semester) among the 120 required for graduation. These credits include, among other Honors courses:

• a distinctive first-year sequence, consisting of HON 1000 (The City) and a choice of second semester foundational seminar course.
• a field learning course
• an HON 42xx seminar
• HON 4998: Honors senior thesis

Students in the University Honors program declare a traditional major in conjunction with their Honors co-major.

The Departmental Honors track is a discipline-specific program that varies by major. Students are admitted to Departmental Honors after completing at least a semester's worth of courses at WSU or elsewhere. Departmental Honors students, like University Honors students, are full-fledged members of the Irvin D. Reid Honors College. Requirements vary by department, but include at least 12 credits of Honors coursework, an HON 42xx seminar, and a thesis project.

Eligible students may pursue either University Honors, Departmental Honors or both. All Honors students must maintain a 3.3 GPA to remain a member of the College in good standing. Both diplomas and transcripts highlight Departmental and/or University Honors designation, and students who complete the requirements for either wear a distinctive gold collar at graduation.
