Honors student shares video of Paris study abroad experience

Senior Marketing student Giselle Gaitan spent her 2018 spring break studying abroad in Paris, France as part of her Honors 4280 course. She provided her thoughts about the trip below before sharing her video highlights.

"Paris taught me a lot: Take your time. Enjoy your company whether that's in a group or alone. Appreciate art and the process it takes to get there. Love your food. Public transit rocks.

Italy: Wayne in Abruzzo

Nestled in the heart of the Appennine Mountains and bordered by the Adriatic Sea, Abruzzo is a hidden gem, offering an immersive experience that will ignite your passion for learning and exploration. Located outside of the traditional tourist routes, Abruzzo has preserved its authenticity, maintaining a strong attachment to its natural, historical and cultural heritage.

The program will take place in Pacentro, in the Abruzzo region, central Italy. Located in the heart of the Maiella National Park, part of the UNESCO Global Geoparks network, the town has a rich natural, historical and cultural heritage

 

 

 

France: A Modern Parisian - Experiencing Today's Paris

Experience Paris, one of the world's most popular and ethnically diverse cities! This program is focused on surveying the contemporary life of today's Parisians. Students will research the built environment of Paris, including cultural and natural componenets, and the mondern city's rich ethnic diveristy. Students will have the incredible opportunity to study, share and plan their trip to Paris during their Spring Break. 

Students will discover and experience the dynamic contemporary life of Paris while interacting with its modern built environment. Through a survey of the city's art museums, public spaces, architecture, cuisine, and marketplaces, students will have the opportunity to apply their research to the living city while traveling and experience first-hand the vitality of one of the world's most popular cities. 

 

Ireland: Irish Influence in a Globalized World

This course will explore Ireland's rich and diverse cultural aspects. Students will examine cultural fields such as literature, music, visual and performing arts, sports, anthropology, religion, language, history, politics, and philosophy. Class will meet weekly in the Winter 2025 semester leading up to the Spring Break excursion to Dublin. Then return to class for the remainder of the semester and relate their experiences to their peers in the classroom.

The course, Irish Influence in a Globalized World, offers undergraduate students the opportunity to study and participate in the global conversation in one of Europe's most vibrant cosmopolitan cities. Deepen your understanding of the complexities of Irish and American culture and connect with pulse of the world. Through supervised study, students can develop their communication and research skills while gaining immeasurable knowledge of global cultural movements.

Belize: Global Healthcare

Belize San IgnacioParticipate in a healthcare focused study abroad program in San Ignacio.

  • This program provides students with the opportunity to explore health care challenges worldwide, as well as in Belize, while examining intercultural beliefs systems.
  • Students will volunteer at health centers, mobile clinics, and preventative health education workshops for students in a rural public school of Belize.
  • Students will experience and articulate first-hand healthcare issues and disparities around the world
