As a Carnegie Foundation R1 institution, Wayne State is ranked among universities with "highest research activity"—one of only 10 such public universities in major U.S. cities. This means that our faculty are not only great teachers, but also academic leaders in their fields. Honors students have access to carefully selected faculty from across the university, who provide them with classroom instruction and mentoring relationships that have a lifelong impact.
