Housed in the Honors College but serving the university more generally, Community Engagement at Wayne promotes excellence in community engagement and civic leadership by providing students with opportunities to engage responsibly with the local community; providing faculty with tools for incorporating service learning and community engagement into their courses; and providing community organizations with assistance from some of Wayne State's most dedicated citizens. It comprises various initiatives, including:
- Community of Scholars: A service organization that requires a minimum 3.0 GPA and 15 service hours each semester.
- Maintaining a database of community partners
- Oversight of service-learning courses and promotion of best practices
- SAT Bootcamp (annual summer program)
