The Honors College offers students a top-notch academic experience inside and outside the classroom. The Honors mission is to promote informed, engaged citizenship as the foundation for academic excellence in a diverse global setting. Current WSU students and incoming transfer students with a minimum 3.3 grade point average are invited to join the Honors College and pursue Honors in their major.
Benefits of Honors College membership include declaration of the Honors major on the transcript and diploma, early registration for fall and winter terms, and Honors advising. Students who complete department Honors will receive regalia to wear with their cap and gown. Honors students are also included in Honors communications regarding social events, volunteer opportunities, and other items of interest for high achieving students.
As students work toward their chosen degrees, they will complete at least 12 hours of Honors coursework, including a senior thesis and a seminar (specific requirements are determined by individual departments). Students should meet with their departmental advisor for details. Students interested in professional programs such as pharmacy or nursing should meet with an Honors College advisor for special instructions.
Applications to the Honors College are processed in February, October, and June. Please include a copy of your current transcript.
To maintain good standing in the Honors College, students are expected to maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher.
