Honors Transfer Program

The Honors College offers students a top-notch academic experience inside and outside the classroom. The Honors mission is to promote informed, engaged citizenship as the foundation for academic excellence in a diverse global setting. Incoming transfer students who transfer in at least 12 credits to Wayne State with a minimum 3.3 grade point average are invited to join the Honors College and pursue Honors in their major.

As students work toward their chosen degrees, they will complete at least 12 hours of Honors coursework, including a senior thesis and a seminar (specific requirements are determined by individual departments). Students should meet with their departmental advisor for details. Students interested in professional programs such as pharmacy or nursing should meet with an Honors College advisor for special instructions.

You can also apply into the Honors College following your first semester at Wayne State, as long as you have earned a 3.3 GPA and a semester's worth of courses. Applications to the Honors College are processed February 15th, October 15th, and June 15th. Please attach a copy of your Wayne State transcript.

To maintain good standing in the Honors College, students are expected to maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher.
