B Start
B Start is an innovative five-year program that guarantees admission to the Master of Business Administration (MBA) program in the Wayne State University School of Business Administration.
This program allows participants to complete a bachelor's degree in business and an MBA in just five years. B Start trains future leaders in business by emphasizing mentoring and research opportunities with business school faculty.

Minimum requirements for application
- Indication of a 3.75 or higher grade-point average
- Submission of an ACT score of 27 or higher
- Description and explanation of the amount of time and experience related to activity in:
- business
- community service
- team activities (athletics, debate, etc.)
- leadership
- employment
- summer activities
- high school extracurricular activities
- Submission of a one-page typed essay describing why you are pursuing B Start and why you should be accepted
- Submission of two letters of recommendation:
- one from a high school teacher, counselor or administrator familiar with your extracurricular activities, team and/or leadership skills
- one from a member of the community (may not be a family member or from your high school) who can address your business experience, community service and/or employment
How to apply
Your application package to Honors must include
- admission to Wayne State University by November 15 (apply online at admissions.wayne.edu)
- a completed B Start application
- a high school transcript
- an ACT score of 27 or higher
- a 3.75 or higher grade-point average
- details of honors received in high school
- a one-page essay, "Why Pursue B Start," and explanation of why you should be admitted to the program
- a description and explanation of experiences as listed under minimum requirements
- letters of recommendation as listed under minimum requirements
Continuation criteria
- Good standing and active membership in the Honors College
- Maintenance of a 3.30 or higher grade-point average
- Participation in B Start seminars
- Demonstration of continuing volunteer work related to business
- Attendance at taping of Leaders on Leadership television programs
- Holding a leadership position in a student organization each year following freshman year
- Annual meeting with an academic adviser from the School of Business Administration
- Participation in designated s in the School of Business Administration
- Submission of a score from the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT)
- Graduation with an undergraduate degree in business with a 3.0 or higher grade-point average in core courses
- Graduation with University Honors (36 credits of Honors coursework, including a senior thesis and seminar)
- Submission of a monthly journal of B Start experiences
